Abstract:
The Research Analyst III uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth data restructuring, data linkage, and longitudinal research methods using Statistical Analysis System (SAS). Demonstrates excellent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The Research Analyst works on data management, analysis, and reporting assignments for studies focusing primarily on health and well being of infants, children, adolescents, and reproductive age adults. Exercises judgment under supervision of the Research Director to select methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Work will be done remotely.
Responsibilities:
The Research Analyst duties involve overseeing longitudinal data of various types and complexity, reading files into SAS, implementing or developing methods to link cases within and across datasets to maintain case selection and longitudinal consistency, construct variables, and undertake statistical analysis using methods appropriate for longitudinal research. Prepares tables, charts, reports, and other visual and written aids to interpret and communicate data and results. Excellent communication and documentation skills critical. Excellent writing skills critical. Experienced developer of SAS macros.
Pay Rate / Salary: Based on prior experience
Skills / Education Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in related area and five years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience / training.
- – At least five years of social science, health policy, or longitudinal research experience, primarily acquiring, preparing, managing, and statistically analyzing data files of various complexity.
- – Experience working with large survey datasets and / or large longitudinal population health datasets requiring data linkage within and across files.
- – Excellent SAS programming skills, particularly data step, data restructuring, data management, and data security emphasizing the requirements of longitudinal research.
- – High-level expertise in SAS macro language, visual display, and / or statistical packages.
- – Excellent documentation in SAS programs as to the purpose of a given sequence of activities followed by SAS procedures showing that the intended result occurred.
- – Experience synthesizing data into presentation format.
- – Excellent knowledge of research function, including analysis and consultation.
- – Excellent skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner verbally, visually, and in writing.
- – Ability to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
- – Self-motivation and ability to work independently as well as on a team.
Expertise:
- – Master’s degree with academic training in epidemiology, biostatistics, social welfare, psychology, public policy, health economics, public health or related field and four to five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
- – Ph.D degree or equivalent with academic training in epidemiology, biostatistics, social welfare, psychology, public policy, health economics, or public health or related field and two to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
- – Experience working on grants, including applications and progress reports.
- – Excellent skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Endnote.
- – Background with ESRI mapping software a plus.
