Customizing and Automating your Graphs using the SAS SG Procedures

Abstract:

The SAS SG procedures are arguably the best tools in SAS for creating and customizing your graphs. In the past, automating and customizing the SG procedures may have been complex and tedious. However, many new options have been implemented in the SG procedures beginning with SAS Version 9.4 that promise to make customization and automation easier. The SAS user is taken through examples that show the improvements and is provided with a road map for successfully leveraging the power of the SAS SG procedures.

About the Speaker:

Jesse Canchola is a native of California and has been using SAS for about 30 years. Jesse is a statistician by training from UC Berkeley, UC Davis and UCLA. He worked for 14 years in the Dept. of Medicine at UCSF before moving to the medical device industry at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics in Berkeley for about 6 years, then he went on to Tethys Bioscience, a small startup in Emeryville, California for two years before landing at Roche Molecular Systems in Pleasanton, California.

Jesse was also adjunct faculty in the Department of Statistics at the California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California for 12 years from 1997 to 2008, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics as well as being the SAS instructor for the Department. Over the years, he has presented at statistics and SAS conferences and written substantially in peer reviewed journals and in proceedings of statistics (including The Joint Statistical Meetings) and SAS conferences (including The SAS Global Forum/SUGI, PharmaSUG and WUSS).

Power of SAS® Office Analytics in Your Hands: Update to PowerPoint Slides One-Click Away

Abstract:

For a programmer, time is of the essence when it comes to ad-hoc reporting and real-time data monitoring while the data is being collected for any given project in real-time. There has been a growing need for real-time monitoring of data and to tailor the requirements to create portable reports.

To address this need, we have been using a powerful tool called SAS Office Analytics provided by SAS®. SAS Office Analytics along with Microsoft® Add-In provides an excellent solution to real-time data monitoring and report generating capabilities. Using this tool, a programmer can build customized Microsoft PowerPoint or Excel reports which can then be updated with just one-click every time while retaining the Microsoft user formats.

Anyone with knowledge of PowerPoint or Excel can then view, customize, and/or update these reports within PowerPoint or Excel with the power of SAS running in the background without ever programming in SAS.

About the Speakers:

Kamal Chugh is a Senior Statistical Programmer currently working at Roche Molecular Systems. Kamal is certified base and advance SAS programmer with varied experience in pharmaceutical and medical device/diagnostic industries. Kamal has a Master’s degree in Plant Breeding and Quantitative Genetics.

Mansi Singh is Senior Manager currently working at Roche Molecular Systems with 15+ years of programming and statistics experience in pharmaceutical and diagnostic industries. Mansi has a Master’s degree in Biostatistics.

Speaker 3

Jeff Upton, JMP

A Brief Introduction to Data Visualization and Statistical Analyses Using JMP

Abstract:

Did you know that JMP can interface with SAS? This presentation will explore data visualization and statistical analyses using JMP’s intuitive interactive GUI. Learn how to generate and compare multiple predictive models and export output for use in SAS. See how Graph Builder can be used for data visualization and cleanup. A manufacturing case study will be presented.

About the Speaker:

Jeff Upton is a Systems Engineer for JMP, a business unit of SAS that specializes in desktop software for dynamic data visualization and analysis. He supports sales and customer development in the Northwest region of the US.

Before joining JMP, Upton held engineering R&D positions with Roche Molecular Solutions, Synthetic Genomics and Genentech. Working in these roles, Upton gained experience in assay development and validation, workflow automation, and data analysis and visualization using JMP. He received a BS degree in Biochemical Engineering at the University of California, Davis and an MS in Engineering Management and Leadership at Santa Clara University.
